A Rockin' Good Way to Dine!

When we speak of diners, we would usually think of American meals like pancakes, burgers, sausages, and chicken wings. Diners here in the Metro would usually offer average-priced meals. They're not that cheap, but they offer dishes with American servings. When we say American servings, we mean big plates with lots of food. So, you could say that the meals at diners are affordable. But, there is one thing that differentiates the original American diner from the diners here in the Philippines - Pinoy meals. Yes, diners here offer variety. They serve not only delicious American dishes, they also offer dishes that are Filipino-inspired such as beef tapa, daing na bangus, and tocino - mostly Filipino breakfasts. One such food place is Mile-Hi Diner.

Mile-Hi Diner is located at Eastwood at Libis. This food place is not limited to Quezon City. It also has branches in Baguio, Tagaytay, and Taguig. They offer a wide assortment of dishes, from classic American diner meals, to Filipino breakfasts, to Mexican wrapped food. The dishes here are big in servings, just like the food you see at an average American diner (we actually mentioned this earlier hahahaha). It's may not be that cheap, but it really is very delicious. The good thing about the food is that it's available all day. Breakfast meals are available even during dinner time. You can even choose to have delicious and fluffy pancakes in the middle of the afternoon. To tell you honestly, nothing in the menu is not worth trying. So, it might not be a surprise if you're having a hard time in choosing what to eat.

The place, in our opinion, is not that diner-ish. For us, it's bit different from the typical diner. But, they do have some usual diner designs such as the black and white colored wall and leather seats. They also have nice lamps for every table which they didn't open yet since it was lunch time. The service was also really good. The waitress who served us during the duration of our visit was really accommodating. She made sure that we had a good time at Mile-Hi. Overall, the place really gave that comfortable and nice feel.

Here's what we both got:

Iced Tea, 35 php (Glass); 70 php (Bottomless)


Glutton Guy and Glutton Girl: To those who read our blog, it's not that surprising that we ordered iced tea for our beverage. It's always better for us to drink iced tea or juice rather than a glass of soda. It's just like the normal iced tea, however. Nothing great to expect about the drink. It was the typical and normal iced tea. They do have beers, though, for those who want to have some good time with friends. They also have milkshakes for those who want to have that really good diner experience. : )

Onion Rings, 130 php


Glutton Guy: When I ordered their onion rings, I didn't know that they would serve a big plate full of it. I think they sliced 2 big onions just to give us our order. What's good about this dish is that the rings are made from real onions. There are some onion rings that are made from artificial flavorings and flour, thus giving it a mushy texture. The batter of the onion rings was really delicious. It was spiced well and had that crunch when you eat it. The dip that came with the rings gave that kick which was very delicious. It really hyped the flavors of the onion rings. It was a really good starter for a diner meal. : )


Glutton Girl: I liked the onion rings of Mile-Hi. The onion rings were very crispy and very flavorful. They were perfectly cooked and chewy. The onions had that nice texture and they really had that crunch which I really liked. When the dish was served to us, it was a like a small mountain of onion rings on a plate. We didn't realize that it would be that much when Glutton Guy ordered it. Nevertheless, we had the appetite to finish it all up. The dip was also very delicious. I liked how it complemented the flavor of the onion rings. 

Beef Tapa Filipino Breakfast, 155 php


Glutton Guy: It actually is not my thing to order a Filipino breakfast at a diner. I would usually order American food, since it is a diner. But, when we were at Mile-Hi, I was persuaded to buy the beef tapa dish. The waitress said it was their best-seller among the Filipino breakfast meals. So, I decided to try it out. The servings was not that much, but it was served in a big plate so it would seem that it was a lot. The beef was tender and easy to eat. The flavor was really good. The fried rice was also very delicious. The tomatoes were fresh and very delicious as well. The egg was perfectly cooked. I liked it because the yolk was intact and the edge of the egg was a bit burned. Overall, everything on the plate really worked. I didn't regret ordering this dish. It really worked for me. : )

Glutton Girl: I also got the beef tapa dish. I really loved the dish. The beef had that really delicious flavor. There was that mixture of sweetness and saltiness that I really liked. It was cooked perfectly and it wasn't fatty at all. Adding some of the vinegar really made the beef more flavorful. The tomatoes really went well with the beef. I had doubts on eating the tomatoes because of the green color. But, it was really good. The egg on my dish was also very delicious. The rice for me wasn't that much, but it was like the punctuation mark in the sentence. There were crunchy bits of garlic that really gave the rice more flavor. It was a very satisfying meal for me.

Most people go to diners for the big servings of American diner food. But, it wouldn't hurt to try something that's uniquely ours. Having Filipino breakfasts at a place like Mile-Hi Diner can always be a satisfying experience. Not only do you get delicious meals that are really worth trying, you also get a heaping amount of it. If that's not enough to satisfy your stomach, we don't know what would. Try Mile-Hi's food and have a rockin' good diner experience!

Think again.

Stackers Burger Cafe offers you a different kind of burger experience. And by different, we mean it offers you new ways on enjoying their good old burger.This 24-hour (Yes, it's open 24/7 hahaha) burger place offers delicious and as they call it, "Auss'mly" good food perfect for the hungry stomachs. It's another food place that gives value for your money because of their big servings. Aside from the burgers, they also offer other diner foods such as fries and chicken. Of course, the burgers are still the main attraction of the place. It wouldn't be called a burger cafe for nothing, you know.

The place has a nice ambiance. It's not your ordinary burger place because you'll really feel comfortable, not only because of the place itself, but also because of the courteous people that'll take your order and serve your food. Plus, it's really hard not to notice it because it's really visible in the area. The fact that it's open 24/7 gives people, especially friends or teens who like to gimmick during the night, a chance to taste their delicious food. I have to say, it's not your ordinary-normal-patty-lame-dull-burger; It's your burger with a twist. 

So, without further a do, here's what we tried and tasted:

 BBQ Burger Bowl, 155 php


Glutton Girl: I ordered ranch barbeque burger bowl. It's so strange to have a burger patty on top of your salad, but the combination actually tasted good. The ranch dressing with barbeque sauce was a refreshing twist from the typical Caesar's or Thousand Island dressing. The burger patty was also cooked very well; not raw, which I really liked.

Fried Mozzarella Sticks, 115 php

Glutton Guy: I've already tasted other versions of these fried mozzarella sticks. However, this version is one of the best I have tasted so far. The sticks are super crispy outside, and the cheese melts and oozes from the inside. It's perfectly cooked and the taste is delicious. The dip that comes with it is also delicious. The dip balances the flavor of the cheese sticks and gives an added kick to the appetizer. : )

Glutton Girl: I begged Glutton Guy to buy this. He treated me to mozarella sticks, which I super duper love. I love cheese in general, so I might be biased. Their dip was different too. It wasn't the typical salsa dip. I loved this appetizer so much.

Jack Burger, 225 php

Glutton Guy: This was my order. I have to say, I was really shocked when the order came. It was a really big burger hahahaha What I want in a burger would be mushrooms, melted cheese, crispy bacon strips. So...is it just coincidence or does this burger have all that I want in a burger? The bacon strips are really crispy - true to its word. The cheese is really good and the mushrooms are perfectly cooked. No wonder it's a burger that's worth the try. : )

Chicken & Fries, 95 php (1 pc.), 168 php (2 pcs.), 205 php (3 pcs.)


Glutton Guy: Another order of mine. (What can I do? It's all part of my job as Glutton Guy, right? hahaha) And once again, another excellent dish. The chicken is perfectly cooked. It's tender and it's crispy. What's also good about it is that it's really a big piece. It's not like the little piece that you get in fast-food chains, another perfect example of your value for money. The fries are perfectly cooked as well. They're not greasy and they're not soggy. They're not too salty as well. They also offer the chicken with rice, in case you really are hungry for a big meal. : )


So what are you waiting for? If you're after an Auss'mly good meal, an Auss'mly delicious food with an Auss'm price, Stackers is the place to go. Whether you're with family or with friends, you'll never go wrong with this burger cafe. We promise you that you'll leave the place with an Auss'mly satisfied appetite and an Auss'm stomach.

Get MoMo-fied!!!

Sometimes, isn't it good to reward yourself with a nice, yummy, and comforting food? Wouldn't you want something delicious to make you feel at ease during your "stress times"? Wouldn't you want that food to have a great value for money, an affordable price that's heavy on the stomach at the same time?

When these thoughts come into your mind, why not give a food place like MoMo Cafe a shot. It's not your normal food place where you just eat and pay your bill. MoMo Cafe serves you sumptuous food that will make you feel good, keep you full, and make you come back and try their food again. And this is also not your "ordinary regular-serving platter" in an average Filipino restaurant, (We're talking American-sized servings here people!!!) which is why you'll really get your value for money here.

The place is very cozy with a nice atmosphere, the ambiance is close to that of a fine dining restaurant, and the staff is courteous and always ready to serve you with a smile. They offer a wide variety of dishes, from all-day big breakfast platters to scrumptious Italian pizzas and pastas. Whatever dish you choose, you'll never go wrong because every food they offer is delicious. Anyways, these are some of the "must-tries" at MoMo (These are also what we ordered hehehe):

MoMo's Own Frozen Iced Tea (Strawberry flavor), 85 php

Glutton Guy: This was the drink I ordered. I kind of admit, I usually don't order a strawberry-flavored drink. But when I asked the waiter, he said that this flavor is one of the best-seller drinks in their cafe. I ordered it and I really have to say, it does deserve the best-seller honor. It's not too sweet for an iced tea, which is good because it won't ruin your appetite with the food. Plus, it's served nicely, in a tall glass with a mint leaf on top. So, for 85php, I would totally recommend this one to you. : )

Lemon-Flavored Water, FREE

Glutton Guy: This is MoMo's version of  the other's "Service Water". It has a lemon flavor, probably because of the lemon slice they place in the big glass upon serving it to you. This is one-of-a-kind, as I have yet to see another resto that offers flavored service water. You probably won't notice that it's service water since the lemon flavor overpowered the "Chlorine" flavor of normal service water. : )
Glutton Girl:I didn't order any drink, but I'm not saying that I didn't enjoy my drink. The service water they served was actually good. It's very different, considering that the water has a lemon flavor. It was like lemonade, but it's free hahaha. It was also refreshing since it had that citrus taste, perfect for a warm day. I must say that even though it's free, you still have to try this  drink of theirs. You won't lose anything anyway.

The "Bestest" French Toast in Town, 195php

Glutton Guy: The dish speaks for itself; It really is the BESTEST. It's not just normal French toast. It has Nutella in it, which makes it better. (since I'm a choco-addict hahaha) In addition to the Nutella, half of the breads are wrapped in crispy bacon strips. To complete the dish, you'll also find banana slices, whipped cream on the side, Maple Syrup, and Fruit Compote (which is like a fruit cocktail-mango, watermelon, and pear slices). The bread is soft, and the fruit compote actually balances the dish. It's another must-try for you people out there. : )
Glutton Girl: It's like breakfast in America, or breakfast in a five-star hotel. This is the dish that satisfied my stomach. The bread is soft (I think that they used wheat bread, which is a plus for me since it's healthy) and delicious. The Nutella  and the bananas make the French Toast better, as it helps hype up the flavor of the toast. The added whipped cream and the syrup give the final touches the dish needs to upgrade its taste.

The Grand Slammer, 350php


Glutton Guy: Probably you wouldn't want to waste 350php on one dish alone. But believe me when I say that this is one dish that will surely satisfy you. It is relatively affordable because it's really jumbo in servings. I would recommend this dish for sharing since it really has a lot in one plate. The dish has crispy bacon, 2 sausages, 4 (yep, you got it right, 4 hahahaha) Pancakes, 2 eggs, Potato Smashers (mashed potatoes), and Fruit Compote. It comes with syrup and butter for the pancakes. After tasting the dish, I quickly understood why this usual breakfast dish is served all day. It is very very good. The bacon, the eggs, and the sausages are not greasy, and the potato smashers are simply to die for. Again, the fruit compote balances the whole dish. You'll definitely want to have a bite of this dish, whatever time of the day it may be. : )
Glutton Girl: Seriously, if you have this every breakfast, you'll gain weight in no time. This is because this dish is absolutely irresistible. What I love about this dish is that nothing in this plate overpowers the others. Everything is balanced with regards to flavor. The pancakes are fluffy and soft, and the susages, the eggs, and the bacon strips are cooked perfectly. It is also served perfectly (with a nice presentation and a nice big plate). It's another amazing dish from MoMo that you have to try.

After eating all of these, only one thing was left - a full and satisfied stomach. MoMo's food was simply one of the best. Surely, it will make us come back to try their delicious food one, two, three, or even 10 more times. Why not try it out for yourselves? I can tell you that you won't be disappointed with what they have to offer. Why? Because it definitely is MoMolicious!!!
